Artist
" I tasted
the student life while studying visual arts at Southern Cross University majoring
in painting and drawing. I have had the pleasure of participating in many group
exhibitions in Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and in Glasgow, Scotland. I celebrated
my art making with a solo exhibition in Byron Bay in 1999 which was challenging,
wonderful and amazing. I was honoured to have my artwork published in the Woman’s
Artist Diary in 2000.
I became a mother 4 years
ago, which was the beginning of the most wonderful creative project of my life
and unlocked parts of myself I have been enjoying since. Painting while mothering
at first was quite a challenge, I began painting again when my daughter turned
one, working in acrylic and showing at cafes and restaurants. I had bursts of
activity and then needed to gather myself again. After the birth of my second
child I had 12 months of focused mothering until I was gathered in the way needed
to illustrate My Brother Jimi Jazz. "
