Doula

"In the time surrounding birth, women need to feel secure", explains Dr Odent. "They need the sort of protection that is provided by the presence of a mother. But for many reasons special to our time, many women cannot rely on their own mother and the father of the baby cannot also be a mother figure. That is why they need a doula."

" I attended my first birth when I was just 16, during work experience at a hospital. I made a strong connection with the mother and was deeply moved by the power of birth.

I had the wonderful opportunity to train as a doula with Dr Michel Odent in London. Being with pregnant and birthing mothers just makes my heart sing, I am drawn especially to supporting mothers with PND. I marvel at the uniqueness of each journey and the lessons that birth holds for every woman.
